Gramma got Emmery and Marc this cute Doctor's kit. Emmery put it on right away and got to work "checking" Marc. He was so cute too, playing the perfect patient.
One day my mom offered to watch Marc while Emmery and I did a girls day out. I took her to the local roller skating rink, they have a toddler skate every Wednesday that I had been wanting to check out. The place was nice and clean, and there weren't many people there. But, I will probably never do it again :-) I have no idea how to teach her to skate and I just got so frustrated trying to keep her on her feet! She was so cute though, she would fall and immediately say, "I'm okay mommy!" I told Mikey that he needs to work with her a little bit more before we go back there, especially if I take both kids!
After skating we went to lunch at Chik-Fil-A and then got some ice cream.
I loved getting some one-on-one time with my girl. She is so good about sharing with Marc and has never (crossing my fingers!) shown any jealousy towards him. She deserves to get all the attention every once in a while.
So we were watching an episode of Elmo, about hair, and Emmery dashes out of the living room and into my bedroom. She returns with a hair brush and begins to brush her hair, like they are on Elmo. My dad and I both look up from the books we are reading and giggle. I happened to be reading The Hunger Games and lets just say it was a bit difficult to get my attention at times. She disappeared into my room again and had been gone for a bit when my dad said, "where'd Emmery go?" and I said, "oh she's probably in my room messing with her hair." Minutes later Emmery is walking into the room with both hands behind her back.
"I got a haircut mommy." My dad is oblivious.
"You did?" I just didn't think she had it in her. I know ALL kids do this at one point or another, right? So I asked her why her hands were behind her back.
"Because." Oh boy.
"Because? What is in your hands?" Dad is still reading.
"A comb." She brings her hand around to the front and I, indeed, see she is holding a comb.
"What is in your other hand?"
"Scissors...." and as she turns to walk back towards the bathroom, chunks of hair begin to fall on the floor.
"Oh my God, dad, are you seeing this? She freaking cut her hair!" So I grab the scissors out of her hands and start pulling at her hair to see how much she cut off. Turns out she picked a really good spot because you really can't tell. But man, when I saw that hair falling to the floor I was freaking out!
On Thursday night we headed to the Tin Roof BBQ. The kids had a blast playing on the playgrounds.
On Friday we went to the Downtown Aquarium, which is really one of my favorite places to go, especially on a weekday... no crowds!!!
The shark train. |
Papa, Marc, and I rode the ferris wheel. Emmery still refuses. So her and Gramma waited for us at the bottom.
A whole aquarium of sea life and the two of them are completely engrossed with a snail crawling along the sidewalk!
Not sure she could get much closer. |
When we walked up the gator was resting his head on the turtle. It was so cute! My dad and I were cracking up, and then I remembered to grab the camera. The MINUTE I snapped the picture he raised his head. Couldn't believe it!
