Visit with Gramma and Papa

Gramma got Emmery and Marc this cute Doctor's kit. Emmery put it on right away and got to work "checking" Marc. He was so cute too, playing the perfect patient.

One day my mom offered to watch Marc while Emmery and I did a girls day out. I took her to the local roller skating rink, they have a toddler skate every Wednesday that I had been wanting to check out. The place was nice and clean, and there weren't many people there. But, I will probably never do it again :-) I have no idea how to teach her to skate and I just got so frustrated trying to keep her on her feet! She was so cute though, she would fall and immediately say, "I'm okay mommy!" I told Mikey that he needs to work with her a little bit more before we go back there, especially if I take both kids!

After skating we went to lunch at Chik-Fil-A and then got some ice cream.

I loved getting some one-on-one time with my girl. She is so good about sharing with Marc and has never (crossing my fingers!) shown any jealousy towards him. She deserves to get all the attention every once in a while.

So we were watching an episode of Elmo, about hair, and Emmery dashes out of the living room and into my bedroom. She returns with a hair brush and begins to brush her hair, like they are on Elmo. My dad and I both look up from the books we are reading and giggle. I happened to be reading The Hunger Games and lets just say it was a bit difficult to get my attention at times. She disappeared into my room again and had been gone for a bit when my dad said, "where'd Emmery go?" and I said, "oh she's probably in my room messing with her hair." Minutes later Emmery is walking into the room with both hands behind her back.
"I got a haircut mommy." My dad is oblivious.
"You did?" I just didn't think she had it in her. I know ALL kids do this at one point or another, right? So I asked her why her hands were behind her back.
"Because." Oh boy.
"Because? What is in your hands?" Dad is still reading.
"A comb." She brings her hand around to the front and I, indeed, see she is holding a comb.
"What is in your other hand?"
"Scissors...." and as she turns to walk back towards the bathroom, chunks of hair begin to fall on the floor.
"Oh my God, dad, are you seeing this? She freaking cut her hair!" So I grab the scissors out of her hands and start pulling at her hair to see how much she cut off. Turns out she picked a really good spot because you really can't tell. But man, when I saw that hair falling to the floor I was freaking out!

On Thursday night we headed to the Tin Roof BBQ. The kids had a blast playing on the playgrounds.

On Friday we went to the Downtown Aquarium, which is really one of my favorite places to go, especially on a weekday... no crowds!!!

The shark train.

Papa, Marc, and I rode the ferris wheel. Emmery still refuses. So her and Gramma waited for us at the bottom.

A whole aquarium of sea life and the two of them are completely engrossed with a snail crawling along the sidewalk!

Not sure she could get much closer.

When we walked up the gator was resting his head on the turtle. It was so cute! My dad and I were cracking up, and then I remembered to grab the camera. The MINUTE I snapped the picture he raised his head. Couldn't believe it!

SPLASH PAD

One day my mom and I went to lunch at King's Harbor. They have a splash pad for the kids, and I was hoping it was turned on. I brought towels but didn't think to bring bathing suits for the kids. I had no problem with their clothes getting wet. Emmery did though. She said she needed her bathing suit and I told her not to worry, it's okay to get her clothes wet. Well, apparently she disagreed because she stripped out of her clothes so fast I couldn't stop her before she was completely naked! In public! I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it while I attempted to put everything back on her kicking and screaming! So Marc went ahead and ran through a couple of times.

Then Emmery asked if she could go down near the lake. So Marc followed.

While we were sitting there Emmery turned to me and said, "Mommy, I'm sorry I got nakies." I told her it was okay, just that we have to wear clothes in public. Of course that was followed with a "why" and I didn't really have an explanation for her.

After our quick conversation she decided to go ahead and get her clothes wet.

Backyard Fun

The weather couldn't have been more perfect for Gramma and Papa's visit.  When my mom did a grocery store run she picked up a backyard blow-up pool. It was awesome!!! Most of their visit we just sat out back while the kids played.

Emmery ran inside to go potty and this is how she came back out! Crazy girl!

She wanted to bring her dolly into the pool, but only after insisting I put a "thingy" (a ponytail) in her hair.

Yes, both kids are naked. We all know they get that from daddy :-) Emmery got a Lick-a-Stick for Easter so she decided to eat it, and of course, she shared with her brother.

Naked butts!!!! Doesn't get much cuter :-)

Easter Egg Hunt

Summerwood held their annual Eggstravaganza on Saturday. We got there early to get a good spot for the Easter egg hunt.

On our way to a neighbor's house for a cook-out on Saturday night.

Lately, we have had a middle-of-the-night visitor climb into bed with us. Kinda hard to say no when this is what you wake up to in the morning...
