I know it sounds crazy, but braiding my daughter's hair was one of the things I used to dream about, way before having kids. I remember very clearly the day my mom taught me how to french braid. We were in our Colorado house (Ventura Way) sitting on the couch using Kate's Cabbage Patch Doll with red silky hair. It didn't take me long to catch on and I remember practicing and practicing... on Barbies, on My Little Pony, pretty much any toy that had long hair.
When I saw that Emmery was born with that gorgeous jet black hair I thought I would be braiding it in no time. But I guess I never realized how difficult it would be to get a toddler to sit still! I never even attempted to braid her hair because I knew that it would just end up a big battle... Until today. It started raining around lunchtime and didn't let up. So I gave the kids a long bath and when they got out I decided to give it a shot. Marc played in the bathroom cabinet and kept himself occupied while I did the first braid. She sat still for me and just looked in the mirror the whole time, but towards the end she started to whine. So I bribed her with an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba and we went out in the living room to do the second braid.
Sorry for the super long post on hair but I was very excited about it!!! :-)
Ha ha.... I have a feeling we will be seeing lots of this look in the future!
Before bed I asked if she wanted to take them out or leave them in....
