Juicin'

So Mikey and I really enjoyed our 10-day juice fast... Okay, I wouldn't say we enjoyed it, but we both felt that it was beneficial to our health. The first four days were very difficult. The last six days were tough as well, but we were surprised by the way it made us feel, tons of energy, great sleep, and of course, pounds lost! The kids (Marc especially) loved helping us feed the veggies and fruit into the juicer.

We turned on the sprinklers for the kids tonight. They had a blast... and as usual, bathing suits not necessary!

Marc Poops, Emmery Paints

Every once in a while we let Marc run around without a diaper on. It really helped when we were potty training Emmery so we are hoping it will do the same with Marc. So far, not so good....

So now when we ask Marc, "hey Marc, where do we go poo-poo?" His response is, "on gound" (meaning "on the ground") and he points to the floor.


The kids found a new use for the goldfish box...

A cute painting activity we did. We slathered a ping pong ball with paint and then she blew through a straw to push the ball around the paper.

The kids loved having daddy home while he recovered from his shoulder surgery.

Hand, Foot, and Mouth.... Ewww

So a friend of mine had posted on Facebook that her daughter had contacted Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. Ew, I thought. Glad we haven't been around her in a few weeks. A couple of days later we went to a play date at my friend Kerry's house. We went out back and Kerry mentioned that they had some fire ant hills out there and to be careful. As everyone knows I am a FREAK about red ants so I was watching every step Emmery and Marc took. I didn't ever see anything that worried me so we had fun at our play date and then got into the car to go home. After I strapped both kids in, Emmery said, "mommy ants are biting me!" I said, "where?" and she said "all over my hand!" I thought, if she were really getting bitten all over her hand she would be screaming bloody murder. So I dismissed it and she didn't bring it up again. During this same week she had been complaining that her mouth hurt. Every time I looked inside I saw nothing so I didn't really know why she was complaining. The next day I noticed what looked like red ant bites all over her hand! And I thought, oh my gosh she was telling me the truth, she WAS getting bit by red ants! I felt so horrible, worst mommy ever! But then Friday morning she woke up with similar spots on her feet. I finally put the three together... she has Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease.... EWWWW!  I asked Mikey to google it and we found that the spots on her hands looked exactly like the pictures online. I called the doctor and they said there's really nothing they can do, just let it run it's course and keep her away from other kids. I immediately got on the phone and called my friends to tell them to watch for symptoms since it is very contagious. Turns out it was going around the community. I'm pretty sure she got it from the daycare at Lifetime. She had a really bad case compared to some others, she didn't want to eat or drink anything and was pretty whiney for a few days. So we just laid low and hung around the house until she felt better.

Poor Baby!

She loves to go sit on the front porch. Sometimes we'll bring the watercolors out there and she'll paint the rocks.

Summer is right around the corner!

My friend Kerry gave me an online preschool curriculum so Em and I have been doing some of the activities. 

At the playground. Marc insisted on wearing Emmery's princess helmet.

Our neighbors down the street have a pool and they invited us down for a swim. The kids were so excited even though the water was a bit chilly!

The pool across the street opened on Saturday.
