Apple Picking

Since we moved up here just in time for Fall, I insisted we go apple picking. We looked online and found a place, Bolton Spring Farm, that was supposed to be less crowded than the others. It was perfect.

We took a hayride up the hill to the orchard.

And then we just walked through the orchard and picked apples, eating as we went.

Straight off the tree, these apples were the juiciest, sweetest apples I have ever tasted! Delish!

The view was so pretty I wanted to get a picture of the kids together. This was the best I could get.

When we were done picking, we took the hayride back down and over to the pumpkin patch where we picked our Halloween pumpkins.

We finished the day with an apple fritter and some apple cider. Yummy!

Marc's Birthday

For Marc's birthday we didn't do anything too crazy. Mikey took the day off and we went to the North End for lunch. I could seriously go there every day of the week. It's such a cool little neighborhood, very reminiscent of Italy. We ate at Pizzeria Regina which is one of the most famous pizza places in the city.

We got some pizzas to go and shared them with Kathy and Marc for dinner.

Emmery showing Marc how to hold up two fingers.

Skyping with Gramma and Papa!

He loves his chair from Gramma and Papa!

And of course, they were so excited to play in a big cardboard box!

The Move... and more

Our trip up to Boston was pretty much par for the course. We seem to just not travel well for some reason. Ever since our very first flight with Emmery when she was 3 months old we have dreaded flying with our kids. On this particular flight we actually took off towards Boston but had to turn around and return to Houston because of engine trouble. Our flight was even on the news! We survived though... barely.
Here are some pics we took before taking off, the first time. We had high hopes! Shoulda known better!

We got settled at Nanny and Pops quickly and the kids have adjusted wonderfully.

Since summer was quickly coming to a close we spent a few weekends at the beach. The kids loved it, though once they felt the temperature of the water they didn't go anywhere near it again!

I kept mentioning that I wanted to cut Marc's hair so Mikey took it upon himself to cut it while I was gone! At first I was so shocked I almost cried. But he is just so darn cute I learned to absolutely love it. He gets so much attention wherever we go, mostly positive but some people make it clear they disapprove of our parenting choices. Oh well, it's just hair, it grows back!

Mikey and I went to the North End for dinner and picked up some cannoli's at Mike's Pastry. Marc ate them up!

We had an awesome time in Vermont, enjoying the cooler weather and some time on the lake.

Photobomb!!

Marc looking awfully dapper in his scally cap.

Mikey is shooting a homemade potato gun into the lake. The kids liked it but thought it was a bit loud.

Right on the edge, just where he likes to hang out. On the other side is a huge hill, but it doesn't go directly into the water.

He learned quickly that the best way to get down the hill is to slide down on his butt.

It reminds me of the hill in the movie The Princess Bride, "as you wisssshhhhhhh!"

We took the kids out on the boat to do some fishing. I had to snap a shot of the clouds over the lake, they looked so neat.
Yup, they make a Barbie fishing pole!

They were excited at first, not sure they really knew what they were getting into. Once they realized you basically just sit and wait for a fish to bite, they lost interest real quick.

Good thing we had night-crawlers!!

Poor guy, with no diaper on his pants don't stay up!

The view of the house from the lake...

We took a day trip to see the Cabot cheese factory and the Ben and Jerry's factory. Lotsa dairy! :-)

Tons of yummy samples!!

They had a playground nearby which was a perfect place for the kids to run off some energy!
