Sidewalk Chalk

This morning we woke up to temps in the 40's and gray skies. I figured it would be another day spent indoors until the weather changed. But after lunch the skies cleared and it turned out to be a gorgeous spring day. Emmery, as usual, immediately bolted out the front door once she saw the sun was shining.

Emmery is very interested in what makes up the human body. She is always asking about bones and her brain and heart. So I offered to outline her body and she could fill in all the parts. (Emmery on the right, Marc on the left). As you can see she has drawn the brain, the stomach, the "foot bones," the "leg bones," and the fingers. Oh, and the hair. She drew the fingers and pointed them out to me and said she accidentally drew SIX fingers instead of five. "Isn't that silly mommy?"

He had to pause half-way through to put his hood on...

SPRING!

Well a lot has happened since December but I haven't been taking pictures like I used to. Every weekend was spent scouring the South Shore of Boston for a house. Hopefully things work out with this house because we really like it. Here are some of the pics that I have taken in the past few months.

The traditional birthday morning photo... Emmery is FOUR!!

I thought they looked cute in their matching warm-ups.

Last weekend Mikey power washed the deck and the kids watched from the window. I loved the lighting in the room so I snapped some shots.

We had the house inspection last week and I took a few pictures but wish I had taken more. It was good to see the house again and realize how much we actually like it. While there are many cosmetic things we would like to change, we like the "bones" of the house and can't wait to make it our own.

The kids absolutely love the fish pond in the front yard. We think we'll get rid of the white bridge and some of the landscaping. Did you notice the bunny???

This is the backyard. Seeing Marc in comparison to the house gives you better perspective on the size...

This picture is basically a small turn to the right of the last picture. The farthest shed you see will be where we put the chickens. The next shed to the right is where the tractor, lawn mower, and other yard equipment are kept.

And if you continue to turn right you see this little house. It is basically a little playhouse they built for their daughter. We can put the toy kitchen and other little house toys and it can be a playhouse for the kids. They will love it! It even has electricity!

Yikes, the living room. Picture this with white ceilings and neutral paint on the walls. Those beams will look awesome!

This picture is just to show the size of the garage and the placement of the room behind the garage. That red door in the back opens to another huge workshop.

So Emmery's ballet experience really didn't start as we expected. The Thursday of her very first lesson she kept asking me when we were going to the "gym" for her ballet. I would tell her, in SIX hours, in TWO hours, in 20 minutes, etc. So we went to the gym early and got her all ready there, in the family locker room. I made sure Mikey was home early from work so that he could take pictures...

The lesson was cancelled, but no one called me. Emme was not very happy, hence the reason for no more pictures from that day. But these are from the next week, her first lesson...

They each got a chance to do their own solo. OMG, Emmery was in heaven.

It was so cute. She had a great time and cannot wait for her next ballet lesson.

December 2012

These next few pictures are ones that were taken in December. We were pretty busy getting ready for Christmas and going to parties so I am still struggling to keep up with the blog. Sorry, I am working on it!

Emmery got a makeup kit with some very bright lipgloss! They had a blast with this. Me... not so much. It was a pain to clean!

Kathy's hospital throws a family Christmas party each year. They had games, crafts, and Santa!

Freeze Dance! Marc was really good at this game. He froze THE WHOLE TIME. Even when the music was playing he stood just like that, staring at the DJ.

Playing musical chairs. I think this was the point where she realized the food was out. She literally walked out of the game to eat.

Playing gimme five!

She was a little nervous to sit on Santa's lap...

They both look SOOO excited don't they?

After all the kids got their chance, Emmery realized that she forgot to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas! She walked back up there and politely asked if she could sit on his lap again...
